Ford Transit 2.0 EcoBlue oil pressure light came on - what should you do?

Switch the engine off immediately. On the 2.0 EcoBlue engine (2016 onwards), the oil pressure warning light is often the first - and sometimes the only - sign that the wet timing belt is breaking down. Over time, the belt rubber softens and frays, and the debris falls into the sump and blocks the oil pump pickup strainer. A blocked pickup cuts off the oil supply, damaging the turbocharger, camshafts and crankshaft bearings. What should be replaced after an EcoBlue oil pressure warning?

Replacing the timing belt alone is not enough. A proper repair includes the main timing belt and tensioner, the separate oil pump belt, which also runs in oil and can also shed material, removal of the sump and thorough cleaning of rubber deposits from the pickup strainer, a new timing cover because the old one is single-use, fresh oil meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C950-A / WSS-M2C952-A and a new filter, plus inspection of the turbo oil feed pipe. Its narrow passage can become blocked with belt debris, causing the turbo to seize even after the repair. Ford reduced the official belt replacement interval from 240,000 to 160,000 km or six years.
