Renault Master 2.3 dCi - boost pressure fault and limp mode

Limp mode and a boost pressure regulation fault in Renault Master 2.3 dCi rarely mean the turbocharger itself is worn out. The usual causes are the vacuum solenoid valve controlling the turbo geometry, a kinked or cracked vacuum hose, or the boost pressure sensor. Symptoms include lack of power in the mid-range, diesel clatter and occasional smoke. Diagnosis should start with checking vacuum hose flow and tightness and reading actual boost pressure values; only after that should the turbocharger be suspected.
