True story of Citroen Jumper

Citroen is currently one of the top five most popular van manufacturers in Europe. Despite the vehicle being based on the same structure as the trucks of competing brands, Citroen Jumper has several individual elements that give its van character. These factors contribute to good sales results. The innovative exterior design deserves special attention. In Great Britain, Jumper is known as Citroen Relay.

The first models of Citroën commercial vehicles appeared on the global market during the interwar period. Already in 1928, the company produced a Citroen C4 VAN, which has very little in common with the C4 model that we know today. However, it was equipped with a large, built-in trunk, which allowed transport of various types of goods. Citroen was one of the first manufacturers in the world to meet the needs of companies for an optimal loading space. The vehicle was powered by a 9-liter engine. The C4 van was available in 17 different versions, enabling the transport of goods up to 1200 kilograms. In 1939, the company released the TUB / TUC model, which became a precursor for iconic H van model.

In 1947, Citroen H van debuted on the European market with front-wheel drive. It was a new solution, which was later adopted worldwide. H van met with great recognition and to this day you can meet refurbished working copies of this vehicle. Over the next decades, Citroen introduced further variations of commercial vehicles - Citroën Type 23 with a cargo capacity of 1500 kg, or 2CV MINI-VAN sold in 1.2 million copies. The biggest breakthrough, however, was the introduction of the large-size Citroen Jumper van.
