The third generation of Renault Master is equipped with 2.3 dCi diesel engines of varying power. Each of them is equipped with a timing on a chain. By using a timing chain instead of a timing belt, 2.3 dCi engines do not require frequent timing changes. The 2.3 dCi diesel engine installed in Renault vans is a modern engine controlled by a computer. For the proper operation of the engine, the computer collects information from a number of sensors located in different places. The sensors include, for example, the mass air flow sensor (MAF). It is located just behind the air filter and informs the computer about the amount of air flowing in. On this basis, the computer selects the amount of fuel that will be injected to the combustion chamber so that the appropriate fuel-air mixture is there. The engine block includes sensors such as: a camshaft position sensor, a crankshaft position sensor, an oil pressure sensor and a coolant temperature sensor. For the engine to work smoothly, efficiently and economically, the computer must receive correct readings from all sensors.

The most important thing is the crankshaft pulley which is the drive pulley for the multi-V belt. Damage to it can break the multi-V belt. The belt tensioner is responsible for the correct tension of the multi-V belt. Over time, the spring built into the tensioner may wear out. The tensioner should then be replaced as soon as possible.
