The first generation Fiat Ducato debuted in 1981 and was produced in Val di Sangro in Italy by Sevel, which also cooperated with brands such as Alfa Romeo, Citroen, Peugot and Tabolt. Fiat Ducato I was available in two equipment versions: S and SX. In 1990, the car also underwent a slight modernization of the front, during which the headlights were changed - they were now integrated with the indicators, the front grille was changed and the aerodynamic coefficient was slightly improved.
The first generation of Fiat Ducato was available in four payload variants and as a shortened model sold under the name Fiat Talento. The individual variants were characterized by the following parameters: Fiat Ducato 10 - 2205lb (1000kg) capacity, Fiat Ducato 13 - 2866lb (1300kg) capacity, Fiat Ducato 14 - 3086lb (1400kg) capacity and Fiat Ducato Maxi 18 - 1800lb (1800kg) capacity. The shortened version of the Fiat Ducato - Fiat Talento had 1764 lb (800kg) capacity and was available in several body variants: classic van, station wagon, chassis with cab and tipper. Fiat Talento It was produced in the years 1989 - 1994. Its direct successor in later years became Fiat Scudo.
The Fiat Ducato engine range was extremely rich for those years of production. The offer included four petrol engines and as many as six diesel engines, which generated power from 69 to 95 HP and reached a maximum speed of 140 km/h. Petrol engines found in the first generation of Fiat Ducato are: 1.8, 2.0 (170B), 2.0 (XN1T) and 2.0 cat. The diesel range began with a 1.9 D power unit and ended with a 2.5 TD unit. The drive was transferred to the front axle or to all four wheels depending on the version.
The production of the first generation Fiat Ducato and Fiat Talento ended in 1994. In 1994, the second generation of Fiat Ducato was presented, while Fiat Talento was replaced by the Fiat Scudo model two years later.
